Am going to Orkney and then Shetland. Can anyone direct me to sources of topos or guidebooks for rock climbing there?

The Gary Latter guide is the most up to date for Yesnaby (Orkney), and includes the Hoy stuff as well.

I think there is a UKC member who posts on here who is in Shetland, I seem to remember he offered to meet up with someone who was heading up.
