Hi All

Has anyone been on the Ben this week and know what conditions are like? Any ice routes likely to be in by the weekend, or which mixed lines look best?

I was supposed to be going up this weekend. A friend of one of my team was up there a day or two ago. Apparently, there was no ice and they had a struggle finding snow firm enough to play with ice axe braking. So i've canned my trip to the cic hut - def not worth the trip from Bristol.

Lots of stuff in elsewhere in the country to justify a trip north though.

Just back from the CIC. There is a good covering of fresh snow that needs to consolidate, and very little ice. Hadrians wall is very thin and people have been abbing off routes due to the conditions. Tower Ridge, NE Buttress, Glovers Chimney, Douglas Boulder SW ridge and Ledge Route have all been climbed. Most routes are proving more difficult than usual. Weather was good this week after the snowfall.
