Hi,

A friend and I, currently studying in Vancouver, are planning on spending the summer driving across the US and climbing for 3 months. Was just wondering if anyone has experience purchasing/selling/scrapping cars in the USA as a UK citizen. We were thinking of buying a car in Canada for cheap than scrapping it the USA if anyone knows about this. Or thinking about buying in the USA (another suspected problem?) and then reselling later. If anyone has any wisdom or experience of this, it would be greatly appreciated it
Cheeeers for any help in advance
P.S if anyone knows of any summer climbing gems across the west coast(ish) then happy to hear

In reply to PeteDP:

The problem with buying in the US is that you generally need to have proof of address, and be able to get the registration documents sent there. So unless you have friends/family in the US, you're probably better off buying in Canada. Not sure about scrapping/selling in the US though.

As for climbing... well, you can't go wrong in the Western US, particularly if you like to climb granite. Summer is a good season for the Washington Cascades, Index, City of Rocks, Sawtooths, Tetons, Wind Rivers, Rocky Mountain NP, Vedauwoo, Tahoe, High Sierra, Needles, etc etc...
