Anyone seen them in the last few years?

We're seeing them tomorrow night in Sydney, should be a hoot, I'm getting Gothed up for it.

I know Dave Vanian and the Captain are still in the band, so that's all good.

"Machine Gun Etiquette" is still one of my fave albums from that time.

How were they then ?

Saw them last year at a festival where they played Damned Damned Damned in it's entirety. They also very kindly played a second set immediately, with zero notice because the headliner (Tricky) had failed to turn up.

I thought they were great

Also one of my favourite bands/ albums.
Always try to catch them when in town over the years.
They've even played in Inverness a few years ago.
Musically very good, Pinch is a fine drummer as RS was.
Worth looking out more recent albums "Grave Disorder" (2001!) very black albumesque and "So who's paranoid" (2008) a bit more psychedelic.
I don't think the captain got the credit he deserved as a guitar player because he acted the fool.
There was a really good film out recently "Don't you wish that we were dead" which explores their longevity.

That's when I saw them, 40 years ago!
In reply to Lusk:

I saw them in '77, the week after The Stranglers, both at Barbarellas in Birmingham.
Both were brilliant gigs by brilliant bands.
Rattus Norvegicus and Machine Gun Ettiquette take some beating, even after 40 years. Seems like yesterday

Mixed feelings really. It was a great and nostalgic night, they played all their hits, and more famous tracks.

The captain was a hoot as ever, and his playing is exceedingly good.

The rest of the band were on form too.

Dave Vanian just didn't seem to connect with the crowd though.

Me and the missus had a fab long weekend. We stayed in the trendy/hipster/studenty Newtown area, and caught T2 on the Sunday, which rounded off the weekend nicely.

Me in my Goth gear, not looking bad for a 58 yr old corpse.

Wow, that place was a bit of a dive 20 years ago! But that was before the Olympics, so it's probably changed a lot.

Glad you had a good time though.

Thanks mate!

Newtown is now very desirable.

Illusions, Mr. Anderson. Vagaries of perception. Temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose. And all of them as artificial as the Matrix itself, although... only a human mind could invent something as insipid as love.

Ah, the Matrix, that's a hole in my cultural experience, one which will remain unfilled.

Happy with the lookalike though

After a peek at your photo, I concur it's a good look, but I don't think you're being compared to the hero.

The film is much better than you imagine, by the way. And the sequels much worse.

Story of my life mate.
