Swing

In route descriptions, I always thought "swing" should mean just that: feet off, then swinging to catch a hold off to the side (or, at the very least, one foot off), but it appears to enjoy a wider definition these days - pretty much any sideways move on big handholds seems to qualify. Here's an example of a swing on footholds, whatever that might be: Inch Pinch (6b+)

Swinging on footholds is clearly nonsense. I've always taken it to mean a gravity-assisted move to one side or another which is consequently really difficult to reverse if it doesn't go as well as you had hoped.

It could be done hanging from the toes in a bat-hang, arms free - although I admit that's not very likely at 6b+

In reply to bpmclimb: I think the more worrying thing with that route is the need for subsequent levitation - surely that's way harder than 6b+
