The nearest bouldering might be up at Heavens Gate ( Longlete)

Unfortunately most of the climbing closest to you is to the north, around the Mendip hills.

The Longleat boulders (Heavens Gate) are worth a visit, the problems are mostly arete based, but the Drunk on Shadows problem is a good face climb on small crimps. There's still one or two projects if feeling strong! About 30 miles from Sherborne.

Heavens Gate overlooks the Longleat estate and gives superb vistas of the surrounding countryside. Sometimes you can spot the odd giraffe or buffalo!
Ive climbed there several times with no problems but it might be best to keep a low profile by climbing there midweek without to many tourists around. A safari park ranger (in a zebra pickup) did come up once to empty the bins but didn't say or do anything.

Other areas:
Ham Hill does offer some bouldering on the walls and is good for a work out, lots of eliminates can be worked out.
Ive got a guide if interested in the (trad) routes if you want a copy.

For a weekend trip Portland has a lot of bouldering or of course Dartmoor.

For trad climbing Fairy Cave Quarry is just the other side of Shepton Mallet offering superb slab climbs up to 100' and is quite extensive 100+ routes. 20 miles from Sherborne.

There are some bouldering venues near Shepton Mallet, they are quite esoteric but some good problems can be found/ made up.
Some of these include Correges Cumb and Croscombe Valley Cliffs have a check on the area map for other possibilities.

I haven't been yet but have you visited the new wall in Sherborne? http://www.oxleysc.com/climbing-wall

Hope you get out somewhere soon

Pete
