Hi all. A couple of friends and I are finishing up a ski holiday in Les Arcs and have a few days (sunday-tuesday) which we were hoping to use climbing / skiing. We were thinking of heading to either the Ecrins or Cham, does anybody have any suggestions of routes that will be in condition? We were hoping for some ice routes but we realise that it's late in the season and it's been warm of late.

But maybe you've already checked there.

Thanks, though it looks like we are leaning towards the Ecrins. I've checked http://conditions.ice-fall.com but there's only one post from the last 10 days. If anybody has seen what the conditions are like recently, or could suggest some routes that might still be in condition - ideally with some ice - that would be really useful.

Hi, I've been in the Ecrins / Queryras area for nearly three weeks. Temperatures have been unseasonaly warm. +15 deg C in valleys. The icefalls at Ceillac were full of holes. Freezing levels c. 2,000m. Thursday night Friday lots of new wet snow. Great powder to ski above 2,000m. BUT Off piste is strictly a no-no under present conditons. So you can assume any icefalls will be pecarious and prone to avalanches. Heli-bombing at Serre Chevalier on Wednesday.
What is this Cham you talk about?
