Help. Crag near Gait Barrows nature reserve in N Lancs?
 Rog Wilko 31 Mar 2017
In reply to Sean Kelly:

A specific one you can't think of the name? Or any one so you can climb while in the area? The nearest significant crag is probably Trowbarrow (that is if you don't count Fairy Steps, which I wouldn't).

Help. Post near a point somewhere on UKC.

In reply to Rog Wilko:
I'm thinking it probably Warton. It looked OK climbing in the afternoon sun.
No, on checking the map it's not Warton, nor in the UKC database, or my old Lancs guide.

In reply to woppo:

No, not Cringlesport. It's just north of Trowbarrow, but above the trees.

In reply to Sean Kelly:

Middlebarrow Quarry? One kilometre north west of Trowbarrow on the other side of the railway. Clearly visible if climbing at Trowbarrow

Is this the secret new N Lnacs sport venue perhaps?
OP Sean Kelly 05 Apr 2017
In reply to andyflem:

It looks natural so not a quarry.

In reply to Sean Kelly:

Nothing new - local climbers have known about this crag for years. Despite being 20m tall and poking well above the trees it seems to have escaped guidebook attention. Two of the best climbs are 'April Showers' and 'Fool on the Hill' apparently. I can't comment myself as I've never been able to to find the approach that bypasses the Dallam gamekeeper's lodge.
