Anyone know the best way to do this without failing a safety audit? We all have mostly the same kit at work so I don't wanna get it mixed up when there's a lot of us working together, as our serial numbers are linked to our names for our external safety audits. Obviously I'm not looking to mark fabric, just metalwork. Don't wanna use tape as it always gets pulled off, would a dab of nail polish be ok or would it be considered solvent damage? Any inspectors on here help?

Cheers,

Dave.

Dab of paint/varnish/permanent marker in the gate barrel. Re-apply when it starts wearing off

Cheers mate. Have you ever had safety inspectors unhappy with that?

Engraving is what a lot of people do and when I had my PPE Inspection ticket it was considered OK.
Maybe email someone at Lyon for clarification/advice?

In reply to Dave 88:

No. The only issue with paint in metalware is that it may hide cracks, but for that it has to be particularly plastered, as in carabiners having been used to hold paint buckets or dropped inside one, and it doesn't apply to the barrel as it's non-weight bearing and the check is a simple pass/fail function test.

Cheers all, I'll go for a dab of nail polish.
