I bought some dry coated Sterling Evolution Duettos about half a year ago and then while using them this winter noticed the coating was rubbish. In fact, it was so bad that while ice climbing they got water logged and froze solid, meaning I could no longer belay in guide mode! This happened a few times, so I got in touch with Sterling who after some back and forth have now sent me a new pair (at this point I've got to say that their customer service is excellent!). Basically the dry treatment hadn't worked on either of the two ropes, though they weren't sure of the exact reason...
Anyway, I've now got a set of brand new half ropes lying in my room, but having been a Mammut user up until this I am now weary of the new pair. Anyone have the Evolution Duetto Dry coated half? Whats your verdict? Should I stick with them or sell them and get myself "something I know"?
