I was stood on Moel famau tonight looking north.
Beyond Liverpool Cathedral, perhaps 20 miles further north, I could see a red structure. It looked like framework but wasn't Blackpool Tower.
Any ideas? It was perhaps in the Southport area and on the coast.

A bit of a stab in the dark this, but could it have been The Big One?
(It's red and supported by framework and is roughly where you were looking)

I was thinking it was a coaster. Not sure it was far enough away and couldn't see the tower? Is the tower gold now?

Ahh. I see it now. It's a big, red, feckin disliker

It's a good view isn't it? You can see the lakes hills with snow on sometimes.
Good views of the Kinder plateau and forest of bowland too tonight. And a big cloud over Manchestaa.

Could it have been the four big red cranes at Seaforth dock?

I think you're correct with your crane idea.

Perhaps they can't see beyond the Dislike button. Taking my binos tonight.

The red cranes get my vote as well, but I've never noticed them from MF.
Lovin' the dislikes for every suggestion!

The towers on the new mersey crossing...maybe a bit east of where you were looking

It will have been the Pleasure Beach, the roller-coaster is visible for miles, just south of the Tower.

There's a really good site, www.heywhatsthat.com, where you can generate a visibility map for any given point. It identifies all the significant hills and peaks. Basically the same as a viewing table you might find on top of a mountain.

Thanks.
The view through the binos tonight confirmed it was Seaforth Cranes. No view of Balckpool Tower tonight. I think it was over the next spur of land.

Probably the same freak on the 'snow' thread. Odd behaviour. Up there with firestarting, bedwetting, mummy fixation and torturing small animals if you ask me.

Maybe the colour of the 'Dislikes' has got something to do with it?
Would still be a little bit odd though...
