Hello! I'm after a nice Lake District walk with a bit of grade 1 or 2 scrambling in it, possibly about 5 - 7 hours total duration. Anyone got any favourites that they can recommend?

Thanks,
Rob

Blencathra, Sharp Edge up, Hall's Fell Ridge down.

The Sharp Edge/Hallsfell Ridge combination is an obvious answer, though you might struggle to stretch it out anywhere near 7 hours: https://www.ukhillwalking.com/logbook/r/?i=118

This longer take on it is a cracker too: https://www.ukhillwalking.com/logbook/r/?i=841

If you want more by way of scrambling, the Climber's Traverse/Threading the Needle/Sphinx Ridge/Westmorland's Crag combo on Great Gable is one of the best link-ups anywhere in the country: https://www.ukhillwalking.com/logbook/r/?i=98

But if you want a ratio of more walking to less scrambling, you could do worse than the Striding Edge/Swirral Edge circuit: https://www.ukhillwalking.com/logbook/r/?i=71

Helvellyn via Swirrel and then down Striding is fun, Sharp Edge is great , but I'd only want to do it if it was absolutely dry. Jack's Rake is awesome, with great exposure and views ,but you can't easily avoid bottlenecks if you do it on a weekend.

Excellent, some great suggestions, thank you. I've been over Blencathra and Hellvelyn before which were great days out, but could easily go again! I really like the sound of the Great Gable link up too

In the south, try a Langdale circuit. Up Whitegill, Jacks Rake or Easy Gully onto Pavey Ark. Continue round the Pikes. Cross Martcrag Moor to Rossett and the cut from the Pony Track to the Climbers Traverse on Bowfell. From the Waterspout either head to the summit or stick to the Traverse across to the Band. Then Crinkle Crags via the Bad Step. Finish direct from Red Tarn, or if you are really up for it go over Pike o Bliscoe to finish.

Big day, but a great one! I enjoyed the pint in the ODG after that!!
