I think my laptop's motherboard has blown up. Does anyone have a recommendation for a company which can repair via post, or one in Derbyshire please?

What laptop is it?
I specialise in macbooks only i'm afraid, a lot of the cheaper end laptops don't have any schematics available which is like being blindfolded and virtually impossible to trace faults and test components.

It's a Dell Latitude E5530. It's basically a business machine and I think it's supposed to be well documented and designed to be repairable.

there are a few motherboards for that model on ebay going for 80-100 which is perhaps cheaper than a repair.
macbook boards cost 200-500 to replace so hence repair is a viable and cheaper option

Thanks. Looks a better option.

yea i think so in your case, like i say it's the schematic and board view software that's essential when attempting these repairs, and all i have are for Apple. My repairs vary from 80 to 120 depending on problem so replacement sounds like your best option. Shame really as I'm in Derby too! hope that helps.
