Marek on Secret of Silence, 3 kbPolish climber and Scottish resident Marek Raganowicz has established two new aid routes in rope solo style on the east and north face of the Ship's Prow, Baffin Island, Canada. Marek spent 12 weeks alone on the island, except for the brief but thankfully uneventful company of some curious polar bears.

Can't even begin to comprehend this really. I guess that's what I love about climbing, the sheer breadth of the sport. Single pitch grit on Stanage, multi-pitch limestone in the Verdon, bouldering at Magic Wood, lift-served granite in Chamonix, remote alpinism in Alaska - you're still a climber. But golf? Football? Even running. All very narrow.
