Has anyone purchased equipment from Alpinetrek.co.uk ? They appear to be a part of Bergfreunde. Are they legitimate ?

As already clarified, yes they're legit. I've bought a fair bit of kit from them in the past and would do so again.

I use them. They are very good, with delivery usually within 5 days.
If there is something that you know you will need, but not for sometime, check their page regularly, a couple times each week. They advertise massive discounts, but it is often only on one or two items in each category and only lasts a few days. I have managed to shop like this and made savings of up to 60%. Friends tried for same item the next day and it was back to full price.
They have a UK branch to avoid problems with VAT etc and ready for Brexit?
