A sad loss

Such a distinctive voice he had.

96 though, and looking fit and well in that photo, I think he got a pretty good deal

Indeed. I heard a recent interview with him where he said that sometimes, when they were filming Last of the Summer Wine on location, he'd take himself off to sit and take in the scenery and say to himself 'You lucky bugger!'

Very sad. There was something quinissentially English in his gentle and laconic delivery.
In reply to toad:

Very, very sad. He was the sort of character you think will be around for ever. On a positive note, I can do a pretty good Wallace impression - Nick Park, if you're a UKC member you know where to get hold of me.

Lots of so sad comments. However what a grand old age to reach. Not sad but a great life to be remembered with a smile and not sadness. Sometimes we need to forget the death and remember the life of people we don't know but who had some influence on us or gave fond memories.
