Hiya,

Can anyone suggest a petrol van that has decent payload size to sleep a 6 footer?

Do they even exist?

All of the petrol one's I've seen are small e.g Berlingo, Doblo etc

The only requirements we have are that it is a new-ish model and has panel doors.

Thanks!

Nissan Elgrand? Japanese import that is popular for camper conversions. In-laws have recently got one, don't know how they're finding it yet. Very thirsty on fuel though, apparently, if this is your concern.

I have bought (in February) a Citroen Dispatch LPG/petrol.

10p per mile fuel cost.

No modern diesel self destruct worries

What are these? I have a modern diesel, should I be worried, I thought diesels lasted forever?

Turbo, DPF, Dual-mass flywheel, injectors, EGR valve, swirl flaps etc....
A modern diesel is a different beast from the older thudders that rumbled through the 70's, 80's and 90's.

But would you want to drive an old diesel minus all these features? all these things give you cleaner more efficient smoother engines.

Mazda Bongo. Not terribly new, but up there as about the newest panel van in petrol. Newest I could easily find was 2003
There are a very few Toyota Hi Ace, again, the newest is about 2003.

Any particular reason for Petrol only? Some of the diesel commercial stuff can be quite good.

"Quite good" at producing pretty nasty stuff out of the exhaust pipe that is.

Really depends on the intended use of the vehicle. If you want to drive thousands of miles at motorway speeds then diesels are great.

Rather than petrol exhausts that produce flowers and bees.
