There's a crow on the ground outside my back door. It's juvenile and looks unharmed. It's parents are quite distraught, swooping down again and again.
It looks quite happy really, but I don't suppose it will be for long if it's just left there.

I'm about as qualified as the next man to deal with abandoned birds, so um any ideas? I've not attempted to approach the thing yet.

Cheers!

Not a lot you can really do. If the parents are nearby it should be alright they will be able to take care of it. All you can really do is move the bird to a sheltered spot under a bush or similar to keep it out of sight of any potential predators and the parents should be along presently to sort things out.

they're probably busy eating juvenile sparrows and blackbirds.

Cheers all. It flew off in the end. All's well that ends well

I recently found a small bird, probably a fledgeling, hopping around on the pavement near my house, and didn't know what to do. Here's the RSPB's advice:

Basically: leave it where it is unless it is in immediate danger, in which case move it as short a distance as possible.
