Hi, We are able to spend 3 nights in the Ganda Sasso national park and hope to go up the Corno Grande. Does anyone have recommendations on where it is good to base oneself please? Any additional hiking recommendations would be good too. To explain, this would be walking not climbing. Some easy via ferrata might be a possibility too. Thanks.

In reply to j99:

It was 20 years ago but we stayed in Mountain Hut type dormitory accomodation at Campo Imperatore. The normal way up the Corno Grande starts from there. We also did the "Sentiero del Centenario", the long west-east ridge just to the south-east of the Corno Grande which involved some scrambling and easy via ferrata. I think these are the easiest routes in the immediate area, everything else requiring more/harder scrambling and via-ferrata. See the UKC crag Gran Sasso (mostly created by me).
