It was 20 years ago but we stayed in Mountain Hut type dormitory accomodation at Campo Imperatore. The normal way up the Corno Grande starts from there. We also did the "Sentiero del Centenario", the long west-east ridge just to the south-east of the Corno Grande which involved some scrambling and easy via ferrata. I think these are the easiest routes in the immediate area, everything else requiring more/harder scrambling and via-ferrata. See the UKC crag Gran Sasso (mostly created by me).
