I know that Westway Climbing/Sports Centre is a major focus for the relief effort following the terrible fire close by.
I've visited Westway many, many times over the last several years and don't doubt the excellent, friendly staff will be doing all they can. I'd like to help too, the area is so familiar to me it almost feels like it is my neighbours who have suffered.
So, and there are others on UKC who can offer a better judgement than me on this, but could we/should we set up a fund of some sort to support the people affected - 'Climbers for the Community' or somesuch?
Just an idea.
The Westway are doing great work at the moment and the outpouring of help has been fantastic. My own personal feeling is that if we set up a separate fund it's simply going to have to be put into another, bigger pot at some point down the line, which is going to slow down the whole process. Let's just give what we can now, the main appeal is here: http://www.dispossessedfund.org.uk/emergency-appeal---grenfell-fire.aspx
