Driving down to the Gavarnie area of the Pyrenees in a few weeks time. Probably going to go via Paris-Limoges-Toulouse as the Michelin route planner says that it's only nine minutes shorter than going down the west of country and considerably cheaper, does this make sense? it's unlikely we'll make it in a day so any recommendations of a cheap campsite or other accommodation near the motorway roughly around Limoges. A nice place would be a bonus but not essential. Finally if anyone's been recently it would be handy to know how much snow is around at the moment.

There's a long section of dual carriageway south of Limoges which technically isn't an autoroute so its free, a French friend did explain why but it was a while ago & I've forgotten the details. Also, once you leave the A10 at Orleans, its a relatively quiet route compared to the A10 to Bordeaux
