Youtube recording

I am quite prepared to pay for my music and buy lots of stuff to download onto other devices but occasionally there is something that is not available. For those items Youtube is fantastic and I love it and it is always there to stream but I would love to have some of the audio tracks to download for wider use. A while back I found a program that converted Youtube files to MP3 and used it to obtain some of those rare moments. I am aware that this is considered unethical by some but I can live with that. However it seems that recently it has failed to convert, telling me that 'We are sorry, this service is not available from your jurisdiction.'
Does anyone else use 'YoutubetoMP3converter' and how do you get over this problem?

There are various online services that do the conversion for you, like http://www.youtube-mp3.org/.

Do a search and you'll find there's quite a few of them. I imagine they'll be more up to date than software.

There are also various browser plugins like video download helper (not used for a while but you might need a paid version to split of the audio automatically). Or you could use something else to extract the audio.

You might also check out Soundcloud.com, which is basically Youtube but for audio files rather than video files. I'm always surprised that people add stuff to Youtube when there's no actual video component.

Try youtube-dl. No flashy gui but gets the job done.
