Good film - although the finish with Anna explaining why she didn't do the route this time seemed a bit awkward.

It would have been great if she'd got up it. But life's not perfect. And she gave it her best shot. Respect.

'I think I would have to really work hard to make it work...' Pretty much the ultimate compliment.

I thought this was a really lovely homage. I remember a friend (Ian Vincent, RIP) seeing Jacky Godoffe in the forest back then and being so impressed. (Ian wasn't easily impressed and was no mean performer himself - joint fifth in the World Championship with Edlinger.)

I loved everything about this: the forest, the music, the two young ones, Godoffe looking back wryly at the guy he was, most of all the struggles on the little undercling. So must we all struggle. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And which is going to be which? You never really know. Perhaps that's why we keep coming back for more.

Mick
