We climbing at Shorn Cliff yesterday (26th June) and from the shouts and rock-fall noises it sounded like some people were cleaning routes. There was also a van and a car parked on the forestry track.

I'm guessing whoever it was had permission but I just wanted to check if anyone knows about this?

Have you contacted the BMC access officer. His name Rob Dyer (robd@thebmc.co.uk). If it is the land owner Rob will be able to contact him. If it is an enthusiastic volunteer he may have to be instructed in the careful cleaning of crags. Either way Rob is the guy to sort it out.
Don't leave it too late, look what happened to Aldery because people thought it was BMC (the landowner) sanctioned work, when it was a 'vigilante caretaker' who got very over enthusiastic before he was stopped!
