Anyone know anything about LDV maxus vans?

I've been offered a Swb Maxus van for cheap by a friend. I trust him completely so will get a very honest history. It's done 90k miles and I'm considering getting it to convert to a camper. I have never heard of an Ldv maxus and google suggests it's a poor man's transit? I've seen lots of the ldv convoys and know they are popular with the new age hippies.

Anyone owned one/familiar with them? Is it total junk? Appreciate any advice

Like all vehicles there are good one's and bad one's. Of the price is right and your mate is honest then go for it.

But.
The wife worked for an LDV dealer about 11 years ago. The workshop lads advised me not to buy one.
In their words, they are not made of metal, they are tissue paper and they had lots of warenties back.
That was 11 years ago though, might have improved now.
