Hi,

Has anyone had any challengeds checking in a boulder mat with Jet2. i tried to add one under sports equipment but they would have said as it does not fall under one of their categories they will not carry it. the only way i can take it is if it will fit in a suitcase!

Help!! i travel on wed

Tell them it is a suitcase. I always just lie.

Just place a neatly ironed shirt inside and pretend that you are *really* protective over it getting creased.

Where are you going? Someone on here might be able to point you towards a hire place if all else fails.

I just flew with my bike in a box on Jet2, which is just as big as a bouldering mat and much heavier.

£30 to fly each way.

Hire might work out cheaper?

When I flew with Ryanair I just checked my pad in as normal check in luggage, I'd printed off the weight and dimension restrictions for checked in luggage in case I was challenged but I had no trouble. A quick look on the jet2 website wasn't very helpful, they have plenty of stuff about weight restrictions but nothing about dimensions. Might be worth emailing them to get in writing the maximum dimensions of checked in luggage

Good idea. Val De Mello and Val Massimo.

Not Jet2, but I've always just checked them as normal hold luggage

Under this link:
http://www.jet2.com/travel-extras/sports-equipment

It states:
All other sports equipment and musical instruments: Items max weight 22kg - Max size 6ft x 3ft (182 x 91cm)

Most bouldering mats fit within that.
