I am looking at moving to chamonix over the summer of next year and wondered if any one knows how easy it is to find work. I am a British fully qualified plumbing and heating engineer and would like to find work within the building industry. Thanks

The best thing to do is go to one of the employment agencies. Probably start in Cluses, the jobs in Chamonix are notoriously poorly paid. Learn some of the lingo and you will be fine.

If you're a plumber you'll have loads of work in Chamonix. Youl'l probably need to transfer your paperwork over to the french system to get insured.Meet the ex pat tradies at the vagabond after work hours or moo bar for tradesmen lunch and you"ll have work in no time. Not sure I totally agree with Calvi, you can make alright money here. The only problem is finding the time to climb!
