I know we are in the days of sports science etc, etc.

Boring.....

Don Whillans managed on fags and beer.

What are your thoughts of training on steak, pork pie, beer and ale?

I seem to remember that Mick Fowler's approach before Himalayan climbing trips was to eat lots of really bad/unsafe curry, so at least his stomach would survive the trip to the start of his planned route.

I'm past 50. Just. Well will be soon. So all is well. Bring on the pork pies, as for the Vanilla porter, it's better than Compulsively training at wall!

Steck took a day and a half to climb and descend the south face of Annapurna, Whillians and crew a three month siege, looks like you are going for the siege, good luck, hope the weather is kind!.

Having said that those wylie old gits from ecosse went slow and heavy on Nanga parbat, didn't do them any harm.
