About to go on our 6 week summer holiday which will include 4 weeks in Mallorca.

I have 60m and 80m single ropes. Which should I take?

Many thanks in advance!

Depends where you're climbing! For most crags 60m will be fine, though 80 is best as you get the odd 30+ metre route.
The guidebook has route lengths in so you can make an informed decision.

That was my first thought! How long's a piece of string? (or rope!)

Sa Gubia

There's some very good longer routes at Sa Gubia.

Some of them are technically multi pitches but you can do them in one 40 or 50 meter pitch at times.

Make sure you know what you're doing in terms of lowering off a 50 meter route with an 80 meter route before you get to the anchor please.

There's also some excellent longer routes around Poker Face at Alaró.

Take an 80 meter rope, it gives you more options and if you climb a 35 meter route you'll be fine, unlike with a 60.

Have fun, Emilio.

Thanks for your responses all. Sounds like it's worth taking the 80 for some extra versatility.
