Head Route Setter Role (Full/Part Time)
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled head route setter for our brand new and professionally built bouldering gym in Perth, Western Australia. The role will involve working closely with the owners to provide our clientele with a world class bouldering experience.
Our ideal head route setter is self-motived, organised, a passionate climber and great with people. They do not require previous head setter experience as we are confident an organised person can adjust to the requirements of the role. Experience in route setting training and climbing coaching would also be ideal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring a high standard of route setting throughout the facility.
- Setting high quality fun routes regularly in all grade ranges (from V0 to V8/9).
- Creating, training, developing and managing a route setting team.
- Management of holds and volumes.
- Producing media for use as marketing material on social media (i.e. videos/pictures of route setting etc.).
- Helping with front desk and day to day duties.
The role provides a unique and exciting opportunity for the head routesetter to help cultivate and shape the center and brand. Further, the role has room to grow beyond the key responsibilities depending on the skillset of the head routesetter (i.e. climbing training/coaching, route setting workshops etc.).
This is a flexible position that can either be full or part time. We are willing to adapt the role to fit into the expectations and preferences of suitable candidates.
