Will be staying in that there London Town for a weekend soon, will be in around the Kings Cross area, want to try and do a parkrun when there - whats the easiest one to get to (by train/underground/bus/public transport)

If a few of them easy to get which is the one with the best scenery, and the one where you only run one lap of somewhere (no point in running multiple laps round a football field for example)

Cheers

There's one at Highbury fields - just a bus ride or one stop on the Victoria line to Highbury and Islington. Or you could just run there?

I used to live near there and run often its fine - never done the parkrun though.

Its the closest but might be too small to satisfy your criteria above. Its a pleasant environments - old park, Islington town houses but don't expect grand vistas and sweeping canyons, its N1 after all.

N5, please.

And me scowling at you as I eat my breakfast, of course.

You'll struggle in London for a course that isn't laps.

I cannot think of any nearby that are one lap. Finsbury Park and Alexandra Palace are both two laps, and would be much more interesting than Highbury at least.

Highbury Fields is a disaster if you don't like laps - it's 5 times around the same loop! Finsbury is also a couple of laps from memory but is a much nicer run in a much nicer park. If you are thinking to head to a climbing wall afterwards you can also take the short walk to the Castle from there.

I've not done Hampstead but understand it is quite hilly.

If you want to make the effort, the original Park Run at Bushy Park is a tube and train ride away, but is really nice.

My mistake - I lived in Barnsbury and was tecnhically N7 most of the time I was there - but when I lived two streets south of there was N1. It's a postcode minefield!

Not the easiest to get to, but can be reached by train http://www.parkrun.org.uk/crystalpalace/course/ or http://www.parkrun.org.uk/hackney-marshes/course/
might be better than running round a football field a few times.

Hyde Park, surely? I'm not sure if there's an official parkrun event, but no-one's going to stop you from just rocking up and trotting round the tracks and paths that abound. Not too much upping and downing either

Not quite the same really.

In reply to Pids:

Try running by the canals. Angel station is just by Kings X and that's on the canal.

Highbury Fields is my local - yes its laps but it's good fun (honestly). You'd be very welcome.

Finsbury Park - good course, tough short hill, nice coffee after in the cafe.

There are six parkruns within about 40 minutes of Kings Cross. All have laps but that's inevitable in these small parks.

20 mins — Finsbury Park — 2 laps — http://www.parkrun.org.uk/finsbury/
20 mins — Highbury Fields — 5 laps — http://www.parkrun.org.uk/highburyfields/
30 mins — Hampstead Heath — 2 laps — http://www.parkrun.org.uk/hampsteadheath/
40 mins — Mile End Park — 2 × out-and-back — http://www.parkrun.org.uk/mileend/
40 mins — Southwark Park — 3 laps — http://www.parkrun.org.uk/southwark/
40 mins — Alexandra Palace — 2 laps + out-and-back — http://www.parkrun.org.uk/allypally/

Mile End was much nicer than I expected, sliver of a park next to the canal, undulating. Coffee van 5metres away from the finish. Bushy Park is memorable but odd, Riddlesdown in Croydon is quite scenic but not very handy.
