Hi all. I would like to take my 8 yr old daughter for her first taste of outdoor climbing. Can anyone recommend any good venues in the Peaks/North Staffs/Cheshire that lend them selves to rigging up top or bottom ropes I.e good natural anchors or decent placements for protection? For her first time I would prefer not to have her waiting too long while I recce options Thanks. Tommo.

Maybe consider Harborough Rocks or Windgather

Tegg's Nose
Has better than average anchors for top roping.

Thanks for the suggestion. Less than an hour from me so ideal. Thanks.

Appreciate the suggestions. Both really accessible for me. Might avoid Windgather as I've heard there's a couple of companies who monopolise the crag and are quite belligerent when asked to accommodate other climbers needs. Thanks again.

I agree that it is a good location but I think there is a booking system with the country park. Worth checking out rather than being turned away.

I wouldn't let a commercial company stop you going. There should be enough routes to go round. Belligerence or not they cannot dictate who climbs there.
