Oddly my first thought when I saw the news was surprise at how old he was. He has got one of those faces, probably looked 70 when he was 40 and hasn't aged since. Great in pretty much everything he did.

Wonderful actor. The scene in Paris Texas when he finally catches up with Natashja Kinski in the strip joint is one of my favourite cinema moments. Beautifully played.
