Heading to Aviemore on Wednesday and planning to walk down over Cairn Gorm, Ben Macdui and Cairn Toul, and out of Glen Tilt on Friday.

The weather looks a bit minging, but warm enough that there shouldn't be snow or ice. Haven't been that way before though, so I'm wondering does that sounds realistic?

Also open to suggestions for a more fun route!

You'll have to work very hard to see any snow:

How's your navigation? As you say, the weather does look a bit iffy, so you'll need to take care on the tops, or work out a low level route as an alternative. The easy alternative would be to drop off Ben Macdui into the Lairig Ghru, down Glen Dee to White Bridge and south from there.

How about Lairig an Laoigh, returning via Lairig Ghru - https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/cairngorms/lairig-an-laoigh.shtml - that's a good circuit if it's not so nice high up.

Thanks, great option - we'll definitely consider this if we're not feeling confident. And it looks like we should be able to avoid that glacier however badly we're doing with nav

Thanks markk - Lairig an Laoigh also looks like it could be an interesting variation, although we're trying to get to the other side of the park!
