Is this a thing, like flying ant day?

Had about half a dozen kamikaze squirrels jumping out in front of me while I was out on my bike today, but not just running out, they looked crazed, like the voodoo scene in one of the James Bond films. Never seen anything like it.

Anyone else observed similar or have any explanation?

Not sure about a day but they seem to be more active at the moment, my Jack Russell is having fits chasing them from tree to tree.

Dunno about Mad Squirrel Day, but I'm pretty sure one was deliberately throwing acorns at me from a tree above the canal when canoeing the other day. Chuntering away and acorns landing in my general direction...

...which makes that video link of Crewey-Rob's slightly disturbing...

Hazel nut and acorn harvest, fattening themselves up for winter, so tend to see them alone roadside hedges etc.
Try wider tyres and peddling faster, you may get the little beggars then.

Chain guns linked to the pedals would work better.

When you see a grey squirrel think of Donald Trump, the rest is easy.
