Finally got to see Shellac live last night. Something I've wanted to do for twenty years. Holy moly what a band. Todd Trainer is a machine of a drummer, so much so they place his kit front-centre. I must have been two metres from his kick drum and my ears are properly ringing today. Definitely in my top ten gigs and possibly in my top five. You could have set your watch to them they were so tight. Eep!

Any other fans here?

Yep. That would have been great, been an Albini fan since Big Black days. Saw Rapeman in Edinburgh a long time ago, incredibly crisp and taut sound despite the music's harsh noise factor.

I always catch myself surprised by Albini's bands' musicianship because I think of him primarily as a producer (sorry Steve, "recorder") of other people's music rather than a musician, but yeah, so crisp. His guitar-sound is that of a machine going badly wrong. Horrific, in the most satisfying way.
