Any thoughts/experience/recommendations of routers to consider that are somewhere around the £100 mark?

I've never really used one before but starting to do more carpentry stuff so any advice/tips welcome!

If you're not already, consider a trim router over a more powerful two handed job. I bought a larger router when I was pretty new to wood working and then spent the entire time trying to work out how to clamp work pieces down in such a way that I could work on them without the clamps getting in the way.

If you can get one of a shape that lends itself to being mounted upside down in a table that's also helpful.

I have the Ryobi 18+ one, which is under £100 if you already have other ryobi kit and have batteries etc.

I'm planning to get a Bosch 1400ACE as my first router.

I have been looking at a plunge router, mainly for the flexibility. I'm between two at the mo - the Bosch POF 1400 ACE and Makita RP0900X (which is slightly stretching the £100 budget...)

Forget the green Bosch one, DIY gear, not built to last!

If you're planning on going heavy duty, these are absolute beasts and built to last!

Get the erbauer from screwfix, I laughed when my mate pulled it for mitring some work tops, after using it though I demoted my dewalt to a spare and bought the erbauer, absolutely brilliant for the price.

Mine's a 1/4" collect, I find it chatters a lot & can leave a rough finish, wish I'd gone for a 1/2" model.
Much better if you mount it upside down, I made a little table for this, they are a bit pricey to buy https://www.screwfix.com/c/tools/router-tables/cat6030062 .
New bits are a running cost, and you can get carried away with mouldings.

I have two Triton routers, both are very good and can also be mounted in a router table.

I have a cheapish SKIL which has lasted well - but with only occasional usage
