Hi,

New to the forum and starting to get abit more into indoor bouldering and would like to buy my first pair of shoes. I've heard that beginners tend to wear through their shoes quite quicklky so was looking for a realitively cheap pair. Was thinking either these

or these

Has anyone used these before or have any recommendation on a different pair.

Thanks in advance.

Classic UKC question will get the classic UKC answer -

Get what fits your feet. That's the most important thing. Get in a shop, and try them on!

Yes, beginners often trash shoes dead quickly, so don't worry about fancy mega super giga sticky rubber.

I've tried on both pairs of shoes, the decathlon ones fit nicely but feel abit tight across the mid section of the toes, and the go outdoors ones are comfy but a bit tight by the toes.

I've heard the shoes will stretch a little so based on that would one be better than the other or is it then down to personal preferance?

I can't get your first link to work but I'm guessing you mean these...

If so I'd definitely recommend them, provided they fit your feet. I've got a pair and think they're great, very cheap, impossible to wear out and you can actually climb hard routes in them. They're not as good as top end shoes but in my experience the difference is small.

I personally wouldn't recommend the blue birds but they may work for you. The blue ClimbX ones from gooutdoors are better in my opinion.

Rember to get the fit snug but not uncomfortable and you're good to go.

They will absolutely stretch and mould to your feet.

Much of a muchness in my book. Both decent first shoes. I'd probably go for the lace ups - better adjustment for a better fit.

Have a great time wearing them, I hope they take you on many cool adventures.
