Can anyone recommend an inexpensive rear light which would securely attach to a rack bag and, ideally, a rucksack please? I don't ride regularly in the dark but I do occasionally need something when an off-road ride takes longer than planned and I find myself riding on the road at dusk for an hour or two. This is the rack bag I have:

I already have AAA rechargeables, so maybe that would be the way to go?

I fancied some of the Cateye lights but the price and complexity increase when I have to factor in an additional clip to fit the bag.

Thanks.

I have a few of these:-

They last for ages, are really bright and cost £5-8 depending if you want the mounting bracket or not (without the bracket they just clip on to things).

Cateye Omni 5 Rear Light
£12
AAA
Batteries last for ages so not the brightest but you can check the numbers.

The fixings included with a very robust belt clip for attaching to panniers.

It's pretty light, relatively flat against the pannier and the clip is good so it's very good for attaching to luggage.
Unless the pannier is empty and floppy it just points straight back perpendicular to the back of the pannier rather than flop about. That's on an Altura Arran pannier which has a hard plastic square with few slots for attaching stuff.

If it's bright enough for you that should be ideal for the rack bag.
On a rucksack it just depends on the direction it is pointing.

General point if anybody is interested - your AA & AAA lights can be USB chargeable

You can get a USB charger that does "1.2V and 3.7V Rechargeable Battery, 1.2V/AA AAA 3.7V/18650,18500,17650,16340,14500,10500 Batteries"

I've been very impressed with Moon lights and if you're near Sheffield then these guys currently have them at 25% off

Ive just replaced my Aldi rear head mounted light after a year. It has a strap too and a clip £2.99. You could buy 3 or 4 for not much.
