Is there a safe way to dye a rope?

As the title says really...

Cotswolds is selling the Beal Verdon at £1/m, which is a great deal, but only in one color and a pair of matching half ropes sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

I tried a search, but only got results on middle marking techniques. Anyone know of a safe way to recolor an entire rope? Chemicals and rope seem like a terrifying idea, so I'm assuming this is best left alone, but thought I'd see if anyone had some knowledge on this.

The Cotswold website says out of stock.
We used to use white hawser laid ropes. If using doubles you refer to them as left and right. It certainly make you concentrate on your rope work.

I wouldn't try and dye them.

Solves that problem then!

I just think two same colored ropes is adding one more thing to go wrong... maybe that's an unfounded statement. As with a lot of things, extra vigilance would work, but if we were all perfect we wouldn't need ropes in the first place!
