Hi everyone. I just want to ask a question. I have just bought a used car and it was sorn. When I bought it a few days ago, I insured and taxed the car online on the same day. I also got a confirmation email from DVLA for tax payment. However, when I check the tax on https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ViewVehicle , it still shows that my car is SORN. Do you think that I can still drive my car or should I wait until it is written "taxed"? Thank you.

I would have thought if you have the confirmation from the DVLA the vehicle should be taxed.

Check on the gov site https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax rather than 3rd party sites which often lag behind the official site

If you got email confirmation that it's taxed, and it's insured and has a valid mot your good to go.

Thank you for your replies. Although official site of government says it is not taxed, I think it is not updated on this site; therefore, I will drive my car as I got a confirmation email from dvla, as most of you suggested. Otherwise, I have paid for the tax of the days on which I cannot drive my car. Thanks for relieving me.

From the website:

Incorrect tax status?

Help with corrections to tax records
If you’ve just taxed or made a SORN it can take up to 5 days for your status to update. You can check with your bank/building society to confirm your payment was successful.

If the tax status is still incorrect after 5 days contact DVLA

You’re fine. It takes a while to catch up. It is possible but unlikely that you’ll be clamped, but you’ll be released free of charge
