VauxWall & HarroWall are facilities of The Lakeland Climbing Centre Limited. We are driven by our passion for climbing and the positive effects it can bring to everyone’s lives. Our London facilities set a new standard for accessible, clean and constantly evolving indoor climbing.

As part of The Lakeland Climbing Centre’s 2018 London expansion from one site to four we are now looking to expand the VauxTeam to cover staffing VauxWall East and West in addition to recruiting a full HarroTeam.

In partnership with our customers, staff, sponsors and suppliers we have created and continue to develop a friendly, efficient and safety conscious centres of excellence for bouldering that everyone can enjoy. Strong links with our site in Kendal will provide opportunities for customers and staff to continue their journey into the diverse sport of climbing in the stunning Lake District National Park.

VauxWall East & West

VauxEast = Cabanel Place, SE11 6BD. VauxWest = South Lambeth Road, SW8 1SR

VauxWall East and West are within 15 minutes’ walk of each other so the team will work across both sites. VauxWall East will be a very popular addition doubling our Zone 1 capacity for bouldering.

Positions available:

2 x VauxWall Team Members (Part time 15-20hrs)

Working with the Duty Manager and on your own initiative you are expected to provide an exceptional level of customer service in all centre operations. Beyond reception and cleaning, a significant part of this role will be instruction; delivering inductions, family sessions and junior clubs.

HarroWall

38,000sqft Climbing Centre – HA1 4HX – Opening February 2018

The UK’s largest bouldering centre will sport extensive bouldering walls split into three large zones in addition to:
? 6 different training boards
? Comprehensive climbing conditioning area
? 60 degree routing roof
? 10 auto belay lines
? 150 metre long caving facility
? Event space
? Function rooms
? Large cafe
? Extensive climbing gear shop

Neatly separated and sound proofed from the main climbing areas we will also have
? A 12 element CrazyKong facility
? Climbing castle complete with resident Dragon
? Soft play area for younger climbers.

All this and we are still keeping a section undeveloped for expanding into.

Positions available:

HarroWall Duty Manager (full & part time positions available)

As part of small multifunctional team the role of Duty Manager is central to the effective running of the Centre. You will be responsible for the provision of a safe, fun and welcoming climbing environment. When on duty you will directly manage the day to day operations including the reception, café and shop with additional tasks including instruction, cleaning and route setting.

HarroWall Team Member (full & part time positions available)

Working with the Duty Manager and on your own initiative you are expected to provide an exceptional level of customer service in all centre operations. A significant part of this role will be instruction delivering inductions, CrazyKong, Caving, coaching and junior programme. Additional tasks will include cleaning and route setting.

HarroWall Café Manager (full time – focused on evenings and weekends)

HarroWall will have a dedicated café in addition to its reception coffee and snacks counter. The kitchen is being equipped with a pizza oven and sufficient space to expand the menu. This role requires an experienced caterer and barista to develop the menu, train a team, implement all the necessary food safety procedures and grow the café into the social hub of the centre for climbers, families and party groups. Working with the management team to market the whole centre.

HarroWall Café Team (part time positions available)

Working with the Cafe Manager and on your own initiative you are expected to provide an exceptional level of customer service in all café operations. You will also be trained on reception and there will be opportunities to expand the role beyond the café.

Regional Route Setting Team

Our climbing walls are our number one product, we take great pride in the variety of route setters, climbing holds and turnover to ensure we keep our climbers challenged and engaged. Applicants should be creative, diligent and passionate about climbing and route setting with a committed approach. These positions will be during the weekday with the possibility of some weekend evening work.

LCC Route Setting Team Member (Part time avg.16hours)

Working across all LCC walls with other route-setters to make creative and interesting routes that are consistent within each location. These routes must meet the needs and requirements of our customers. Additionally, you will be responsible for the set and in charge of other setters on the day, adhering to the safety procedures and guidelines in place. Other tasks will include stripping and washing of routes at different sites. For this role we are looking for a passionate climber with route setting experience. Further training will be provided.

LCC Route Setting Assistant Team Member (Part time avg.16hours)

We would like to develop our route setters and this role is a great opportunity to get started in the industry. Working across all LCC walls with other route-setters to learn the route setting craft. You will be expected adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines in place. Other tasks will include stripping and cleaning of holds at different sites, hold stock management and working alongside management staff to promote the centres.
