Are you looking to equip yourself with a new set of skills that could lead to future work? Or maybe you’ve already done some route setting and are looking to reconcile your existing experience with a professional qualification?

This two-day direct entry qualification course will teach you the fundamentals of roped route setting on commercial climbing walls and will provide you with a nationally recognised Route Setting Association (RSA) Level 2 qualification. Attendance of a Level 1 course is NOT a pre-requirement for this course, since Level 1 specifically focuses on unroped climbing.

The course will be taught by Ben Humphris, professional route setter, RSA trainer, IRATA qualified technician and Mountaineering Instructor, with the course syllabus including: route setting good practice, the creative process, hold attachment, rescues, rope-work, WAH (work at height) regulations, LOLER/PUWER, ladder use, equipment, tools and more. The course is also approved for 1 MTA or 2 AMI CPD points.

The course is intended for climbers who have a have a basic level of rope-work skills, can lead / belay and have the ability to lead F6b indoors comfortably. The course is also appropriate for designated route setter rescuers. All equipment is provided.
