Looking for advice on Sherpa jackets please for winter climbing. In particular the Ang Tharkay. Has anyone owned one, what's the fit and quality like, is their own material any good? I'd be greatful for any first hand experience. Happy new year!

I don't have that Jacket but I do have some of their stuff. Cut for the athletically built and seems as well made as anything in my extensive Patagucci wardrobe. They support good causes too.

I have the Lakpa Rita, which uses eVent.

It's a decent cut, and allows good articulation - it does not pull across the shoulder when swinging ice axes, but is tapered enough to sit nicely under the harness.

It's well made and breathes well.

I have had a couple of their fleeces, which are ok, but could do with an elasticated hem as they tend to bag and are a bit square cut.

Stuart's right - they try to manufacture the kit in Nepal and have a strong social / community policy
