Dolomites/Silvretta Ski Tour

I'll be out in the Dolomites for the end of Feb / start of March with my girlfriend and her brother. Both can ski reasonably on piste but are keen to get into multi day tours. I've got a few ideas for one day tours in the Dolomites but can anyone recommend a easy two day (overnight in a hut) tour that would be beginner friendly. Either the Dolomites or Silvretta regions.

Thanks for the reply. Ideally looking for two day tours as we've done lots of single day tours around the Dolomites

Look at vol2 of Bill O’Connor’s Cicerone guidebooks to alpine ski mountaineering- there’s stuff there in silvretta. Easy access to first hut from ischgl lifts and can be 1-2 day easy tour or extend up to a week or more. From huts you have choice of routes with or without glaciers, and of summits.

Theres a tour of Civetta which supposed to be excellent. Not entire sure where to find details. But the gist is that you start up from Alleghe on the lifts  and then go around under the NW face and over to the Tissi hut, then around between Moiazza and Civetta over a col and down towardsVal di Zoldo and then keep going until you get back to Col dei Baldi. You usually stop I think in the Rifugio Cappan Trieste. Will ask James about other alternatives...

Hi Francis, certainly lots of potential for multi-day tours here. Which bit of the Dolomites were you thinking? It's a big area!

In reply to James Rushforth:

Hi James. We're happy to travel a bit as we're starting off in Cortina and will be heading across to the Silvretta.

I think we'll do the traverse from Capanna alpina to Rifugio Lavarela via Piz de Laverela and then onto Punta Camina before descending to Rifugio Sennes, but looking for some other easy tours that may be suitable

Hi Francis,

That sounds like a good plan, there's a lot to go at in the Fanes. You can make an easy tour from Rifugio Pederu up to Rifugio's Lavarella and Fanes which you can stay at. Once you're up there there's loads of easy stuff to go at (Sasso delle Dieci, Monte Castello, Furcia Rossa III - ask at the rifugio's for conditions and details).

Another really nice and fairly easy two day tour is a traverse of the Marmolada and San Pellegrino from Malga Ciapela. Starting from Malga Ciapela you ascend the Valle di Franzedas to Passo di Forca Rossa and then ski down the opposite side to to Rifugio Fuciade where you stay the night. The second day you ascend north-east to Forcella del Bachet and then ski east down the Valle Ombretta back to Malga Ciapela. The final ascent to Forca Rossa requires a safe snowpack however.

I hope you have a good trip!

And there was me thinking you meant Silvretta bindings....
