NEWS: First Winter Ascent of Pik Pobeda by Moro and Lunger

Italian mountaineers Simone Moro and Tamara Lunger made the first winter ascent of Pik Pobeda, also known as Gora Pobeda (3003m), Siberia's highest mountain located in the Chersky range within the Arctic Circle. The area is one of the coldest regions on the planet, with temperatures at Base Camp during their climb reaching -40 degrees Celsius.

Any details of the route?  I'm guessing from the timings that the main difficulties were logistics and the cold?

Not much info about it at the moment. I assume they are travelling home at the moment.

Woo, that’s a seriously obscure place to go looking for FWAs. Paul Knott and I did the first British ascent in ‘94, had the whole range to our team of 4. Pobeda’s shrunk, though; it was 3147 on our maps
