Hi all,

I know that many of the quarries in the Matlock area are private and that some owners have clamped down on climbing, so was just wondering if anyone knew which quarries are still OK to climb at without upsetting anyone or getting told to sod off.

Cheers

I climbed at Masson Lees last summer, there didn't seem to be any access issues then.

There's a good range of grades, although I'm guessing that one side of it will be pretty wet at the moment.

Long Tor, Masson Lees,  Hall Dale,  Cawdor, Lorry Park, Arm Lees, Stoney Wood are all OK for access at the mo.

Limekiln - see BMC RAD. Basically OK if you have BMC insurance and buy a pint afterwards.

Blue Yonder, Colehill, Slaley Brook, Intake and NE Quarries are all restricted.

Obviously access can change, but I believe this is the current situation.

Cheers

Also the sport routes on High Tor and New Bridge at Wildcat are fine and dry quickly.

I go to colehill, I’ve never had a problem but if I’m ever asked to leave I wouldn’t have a problem as I’m aware of restricted access
