YatFest is back for 2018 – Once again we have the chance to give something back to the crags that have given us so much. Put the date in your diary – the weekend of the 24th and 25th March 18; volunteer, climb and celebrate this fantastic venue... You’ll even get some freebies from our local sponsors.
The crags at Symonds Yat East are owned by the Forestry Commission who allow professional and recreational climbers alike, access hundreds of routes. These crags are a regionally, if not nationally important, but they do need some looking after to ensure their continued safe use and enjoyment by all.
We realise that time is precious, especially over a weekend, We’re not asking for you to commit to both days, just as much as you can offer, even if that is just picking up litter at the base or top of the crags for an hour or two; non-climbers are welcome!
This year we will be focusing our efforts around the Pinnacle area, replacing in-situ threads and pegs and checking the condition of the routes and rock. We'll also be surveying for the extremely rare Carboniferous Hawkweed again.
