My trusty, filthy, holey (and almost holy) Rab Generator is finally beyond use. Any suggestions for a midweight synthetic insulated jacket, hood or no hood, that will be as useful as a packable extra layer in the hills as it will be keeping me warm in a wintry beer garden? Not looking to spend mega bucks - £120 maybe?

To be honest, there aren't really any bad ones around

They vary based on fit, weight and shell materials, but they're all good in their own way

My two most used ones are a Berghaus Hypertherm and a Berghaus Capucin as they have hoods. I have about more to choose from but they're hoodless (TNF Redpoint, Montane Fireball smock, Berghaus Infinity, Golite something). All good and all have a use
