I’m looking to buy a new rope to be used just indoors, I’m fed up of having  to roll up our 60m rope when we go inside!

I don't know much about rope terminology really so not sure on what would be suitable for just indoor use.

I'm after a 40m, preferably brightly coloured! and struggling to find one as I don't really know where to look either!

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Here's a good article.

To cut a long story short you want a single. Choose the length on where you climb and go for something chubby (10.5mm ish).

Hope that helps

For indoor use, you're just looking for a really basic rope, which doesn't always have a name. Sometimes they're labelled as "wall ropes" but not always. The description might mention indoor use but that doesn't matter. You don't need any particular features, like dry treatment, just something reasonably hard-wearing at a low-ish price. That generally means something at the thicker end of the range, probably around 10mm.

You could look at climbing specialists like Needlesports and V12 Outdoor or bigger chains like Cotswold Outdoor or Go Outdoors.

In reply to Removed UserJim25 Dirks climbing always seem to have very good deals.  No shorter than, single, dont bother with dry treatments

Try Go Outdoors. They have Beal Karma 9.8mm at various lengths at excellent prices. I'm using one for indoors and short climbs outdoors to save wear on my good ropes.

BRIGHT YELLOW.

Thanks all !

This seems to fit the bill perfectly http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/beal-karma-9-8-40m-single-rope-p390868

Only thing is my 60m is the same coloured Beal rope, guaranteed I'll pick up the wrong one oneday!

Will keep searching for a different colour!

OR:  You could cut your 60 metre rope in half to make 2 x wall ropes and treat yourself to a new outdoor rope.  If you intend climbing abroad 60 metres will limit you, you need at least 70 and in some places 80 metres.

I‘ve bought a Simond 10mm rope from decathlon two years ago and so far been happy with handling and durability, mostly climbing outside and taking fair few falls.  And they are cheap.

This is a 35m rope but might fit your bill:

If you need a 40m due to the height of your local wall, them you can buy a 80m, chop it in half and split the cost with a mate - it will turn out to be the same cost per person as buying one 35m rope.

Get one of these http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/beal-karma-9-8-40m-single-rope-p390868

Great value. I recently got the 70m for not much more money. Basic but absolutely fine rope at an amazing price. And they don't come much brighter!
